Short-Term Meal Solutions

Daily life can change drastically with an unexpected injury or surgery.  Minimally invasive surgeries may require several weeks of rehabilitation.  More complex procedures, like a full joint replacement, may require months.  When mobility is limited and lifting restrictions are in place, life’s simple pleasures can easily morph into an impossible task. Neighbors and family members are happy to pitch in, but lunchtime is tricky as people balance their work-life schedules.  At Meals on Wheels of Lee’s Summit, we are ready to help!

Approximately 8% of Our Clients Take Advantage of Meals on Wheels Delivery

We’ve noticed that as individuals recover from surgery or an injury, taking advantage of our home meal delivery system is the right solution for them.  We serve all adults in the Lee’s Summit R7 school district regardless of age or income level.  “It’s easy to set up meal delivery,” Susie Newsam, President of Meals on Wheels of Lee’s Summit confirmed. “In 15-minutes, we can onboard new clients over the phone and customize meals to address dietary restrictions.  It is possible for meal delivery to begin the very next day.”

Meals on Wheel of Lee’s Summit Follows Dietary Restrictions

Whether religious, allergy or medical related, can be accommodated.  “Because of our valued partnership with Lee’s Summit Medical Center, we can rely on a professional staff to tailor each meal to a client’s needs,” Susie explained.  There are clients who have their meat pre-cut, others have everything pureed according to their intake requests.

Our Volunteers Deliver Drivers are the Best Around

New experiences can sometimes feel uncomfortable at first, but our delivery drivers are cheerful and ready to meet a new neighbor.  “We have permanent drivers,” Susie proudly shared, “some have been with us 15-20 years.”  Thoroughly vetted by the Missouri Highway Patrol, the Meals on Wheels drivers love to visit with people on their route.  “We pride ourselves on warm meals and warm conversations!”
